Thank you Nick! Some go faster than other. I can't do back to back paintings like Dalliance or X-Statix without taking a breather to do more simple paintings.
i know how you feel, i am trying to concentrate on simpler compositions so that i can produce more work, quicker, which is actually a real shame as i would love to get stuck into something really challenging. economics and all that....
It's always a real treat for me when you post new work. I think you've pretty much nailed it when it comes to glass Jason.
Also, congratulations on the Poets and Artists piece. It's a really nice spread that does you justice! As Woody Allen said, "80% of life is just showing up". Sooner or later I believe you will experience the snowball effect, exposure like this certainly helps that along.
Dianna, my palette was for the most part phthalo green and payne's gray. The black is my own mix of dioxazine purple, burnt umber, mars black and phthalo green. There are also little hint of cadmium yellow and cerulean blue.
My paintings are about staging an alternate reality, the illusion of verisimilitude on the painted surface, filtered so that it expresses my unique vision.
Though my paintings may appear photoreal my goal is not to reproduce or document faithfully what I see one hundred percent, but also to create the illusion of depth and sense of presence not found in photographs.
Many of my paintings are about the relationship of light with reflective and transparent surfaces and my journey to understand those qualities and convey my sense of wonder and intrigue over them. In all of my paintings the subject matter is a springboard and a means to explore my ability to communicate something unique to the viewer. I use colours and composition intuitively with the intent of imbuing my paintings with emotion, mood and mystery. Throughout, I try to remain open to new ideas as the painting unfolds.

His presentation of light and shadow in their work is what impresses me most. Congratulations. May God bless your ability, success always.
You always make it seem so effortless.....superb!
Jason,
this piece is very striking. What colors did your palette consist of? Were they a blend of several colors or just a range of grays and black?
